Fox News has announced that Donald Trump has defeated Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, granting him a historic second term. This victory makes Trump the second U.S. president, after Grover Cleveland, to serve two non-consecutive terms—Cleveland held office as both the 22nd and 24th president.

Trump first won the presidency in 2016 with his “Make America Great Again” slogan, defeating Hillary Clinton. However, he lost to Joe Biden in the 2020 election amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. This time, he returned to office with a renewed promise of “Make America Great Once Again.”

Trump’s campaign emphasized economic issues, border security, and inflation, frequently warning of the consequences of Biden-Harris policies. His path to victory was marked by significant challenges, including two assassination attempts during his campaign. Despite this, he pushed forward vigorously with strong backing from major business leaders and even support from some former Democratic figures like Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Kamala Harris entered the presidential race after President Biden chose not to run. Harris campaigned on the potential dangers of Trump’s policies, particularly concerning women’s rights. However, Trump’s closing message of the campaign asserted, “Harris has made a mess; Trump will fix it.”

Although Trump faced numerous legal battles, he used these cases as a rallying point in his campaign, framing them as politically motivated “legal fights” that only strengthened his resolve.

The 2024 election has set a new historical precedent, and Trump has promised to pursue his agenda with renewed vigor as he prepares for his second inauguration.
