South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has responded to former U.S. President Donald Trump, who announced the suspension of aid to South Africa over alleged human rights violations and claims that white farmers were being persecuted and having their land taken. In his statement, Ramaphosa made it clear that Trump should stop interfering in South Africa’s affairs, as they do not concern him. He emphasized that South African land is not Trump’s business, and he has no right to dictate what should be done.
Ramaphosa stated:
“This issue that Donald Trump is so afraid of—this land belongs to us. I don’t know what involvement Trump has or what he intends to do about South African land because he has never been here. He should focus on taking care of America, and we will take care of South Africa. South Africa is our land, and it belongs to all the people living here. South Africa is not owned by Donald Trump.”

He further added:
“If I meet Trump, I will tell him that he is a bad person because he takes sides. In America, there were indigenous people who were removed and nearly wiped out. Here in South Africa, we live as a nation of both black and white people, and we are working together to find a solution regarding land. Trump should leave us alone.”
Ramaphosa also reminded Trump that he was never involved in South Africa’s struggle against apartheid:
“When we were being oppressed and mistreated by the apartheid regime, Trump was not here. He did not fight alongside us. We solved our issues with the help of other people around the world—Trump was not one of them. So, he should focus on his affairs in the White House while we handle ours. Let him deal with his own problems, and we will not interfere with America’s matters.”
